So I am pretty new to this, but I think I have a few interesting stories to tell. I am a wife and a mom to a 2 year old boy and I attempt to run in my spare time. I don't know if what I do can really be considered running, but I putt putt along and just keep putting one foot in front of the other. My friend Jenn and I just finised our first 10K last weekend and it was hard! We finished it in 1 hour and 5 minutes, only 5 people finished behind us but, hey, what can you expect from two moms that try to run in spare time!
I did have a casualty from our 10K though, my cell phone.
I wasn't feeling too well on Thursday and Friday before the run, I had flu-like symptoms and overall just felt kind of crappy. So the morning of the run I was still on the fence if I was going to do it. Well, needless to say adrenaline usually gets you through, so I decided to do it. I was worried about keeling over on the course and not having anyone around me to help though, so I decided to stick my cell phone in my bra. I guess I sweat too much because when I pulled it out after the race to call my husband to tell him I made it, I had nothing but a black screen.
So the great part of the story is my trip into my cell phone service provider. I walk into the store and say, "My phone is broke, what can I do?"
A nice gentleman takes me over to the computer and starts to ask me account questions and says, "What happened to your phone?"
I just handed him my phone because I hadn't quite decided if I was going to tell the truth about what happened or make up some other story.
He looked at the phone and said, "Oh, moisture damage, how did you do it?"
On such short notice, I decided to tell the truth. I said, "Um, uh, well... I ran this morning and well, I um, I stuck it in my bra and I guess I sweat."
He quickly replied, "Oh well that is a good thing, I would be worried if you didn't (sweat)." Then there was a brief pause and he asks, "So, should I be washing my hands?"
It was pretty embarassing, but he was really nice and we were able to get my phone fixed.
So, we finished our first 10K with only one small casualty, which is pretty good for us putt-putters.
